ACCENTS on FABRIC

| Buttons are the
jewelry on every pillow. Pay attention to the small details which can
add a special touch to every element in your room. Many of these can be found in Sham Shui Po along with ribbons and trim.
A bejeweled accent
lends a glamorous twist to a chair, pillow or even a tufted headboard.
The addition of bone or seashell buttons can create the Ethnic casual punch.

The
long, narrow proportions of this living room are often best addressed
via two distinct seating groupings. When entertaining it’s rare to
have all guests engaged in a single conversation, so why not divide
the room into intimate groupings that offer the best opportunities
for lounging, relaxing, entertaining and enjoying whether it’s a
single one or a group of eight?
Another
suggestion - flip the dining room into a long and narrow room with a
casual seating area at the other end. Turn the old dining room
into your media area. It's probably very cozy and you might be
able to view the TV from the dining table.

| For
a departure from bland bookcases why not add a little colour? I
painted the beadboard paneling on the back of the bookshelves a
delicate robin's egg blue as a reference to the accent fabrics and
also as a playful nod to the framed antique engravings of eggs.
Instead of an entire wall of shelves, you might want to consider
keeping the centre section open to allow a place to hang a treasured
piece of art. It takes far more books than you might think to fill
your shelves completely!
